NEIGHBOURHOOD WEEK 2026 This week is Neighbourhood Policing Week and we are proud to be able to celebrate the vital work our neighbourhood officers do every single day to keep our communities safe. connected and supported. Neighbourhood policing is about more than just responding to incidents. It is about building relationships, understanding local concerns, and working together to solve the issues that matter most to you. To show you the variety of work we do, we thought we would give you an insight into what our week involves through the eyes of our officers. Today! PCSO Sarah Diaper. Hi, I’m Sarah, one of two PCSO’s working with Saltash Neighbourhood Team. My prior experience of taking 999 and 101 calls for the police, plus over 10 years in mainstream and specialist school settings, and my love of walking and talking, have proven the perfect combination for a role in community policing.
Just a few moments from my last week: Attending the multi-agency Safer Saltash meeting and meeting with youth-group leaders and local Headteachers and safeguarding leads to discuss current and future priorities.
Working with response officers to promote road safety and parking awareness outside a primary school, as well as conducting my own patrols outside another.
Working with our Licensing Officer and Neighbourhood Beat Managers around anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related concerns in the town, and liaising with our Dogs Officer to target drugs-related intelligence.
Visiting local retailers for a general check-in and to discuss shoplifting concerns
Responding to welfare concerns and reports of racist abuse.
Attending training around Rural Crime, and also Online Child Safety.
And between all of that, conducting hours and miles of foot patrol to promote ongoing engagement between the police and our local community.
